Position Overview:

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to oversee our Mechanical, Test, NPI, CAD, and Document Control teams. This pivotal role involves leading the design and development of complex custom integrated microwave assemblies (IMAs) and microwave amplifiers. You will also be responsible for managing our Document Control team, ensuring the effective handling of released documents and the efficient operation of our electronic document control system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the Mechanical and Test Engineering teams in the design and development of intricate custom IMAs and microwave amplifiers.
  • Guide the NPI Engineering team to ensure smooth transitions of products to production.
  • Oversee the Document Control team to manage released documents and maintain our electronic document control system.
  • Facilitate employee development and operational improvements within the mechanical design group, aligning with corporate objectives and best practices.
  • Enhance the performance of the mechanical/test/NPI engineering teams through:
    • Creation and evaluation of mechanical concepts for new business opportunities.
    • Successful execution of mechanical design, development, validation, and production release of new products.
    • Investigation and standardization of improved mechanical structures and techniques for enhanced performance and cost-effectiveness.
    • Design and verification of automated test equipment (ATE).
    • Planning and execution of product transfers to production to ensure quality and cost efficiency.
    • Driving improvements in methodologies and procedures.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of new mechanical concepts focused on improving size, weight, power (SWaP), automation, reliability, and design cycle time.
  • Design and analyze mechanical construction proposals for new products, supporting the team's analysis and development efforts.
  • Establish test methods and specifications, analyze and validate hardware performance.
  • Conduct design reviews and present findings to management and clients.
  • Oversee the design of effective ATE, ensuring successful design verification testing and product transfer from engineering to production.
  • Provide insights on technology trends to enhance competitiveness, focusing on SWaP improvements and meeting evolving customer needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in microelectronics packaging, microwave testing, and manufacturing microwave products.
  • Proficiency in RF, microwave, and millimeter-wave frequency subsystem mechanical design, analysis, validation, and automation.
  • Ability to design and analyze hardware for various environments, including combat and space.
  • Experience with design tools such as ANSYS, Labview, and Solidworks, along with electronic documentation and ERP systems.
  • Capability to conceptualize subsystem designs and lead the team to successful development.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with experience in organizing design reviews and customer presentations.
  • Proven experience in managing and developing technical teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on innovative solutions.
  • Proficiency in mechanical design software, particularly Solidworks.
  • Experience with Ansys mechanical analysis or similar tools is advantageous.
  • Strong testing skills in design validation and optimization, with experience in space qualification testing being a plus.
  • Familiarity with electronic documentation packages and streamlining design activities is beneficial.
  • Experience in driving technical innovation and automation in microelectronic assembly manufacturing.
  • Must be a US Citizen and eligible for Security Clearance.
