Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a candidate to provide technical leadership for a sophisticated multi-robot system. As the head of our Mechanical Engineering division, you will play a pivotal role in decision-making and architectural guidance for automation systems and mechanical solutions, overseeing the development cycle from initial concept through to production.

Your specific responsibilities will include:

  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives for our automation systems, both as a team leader and a senior contributor.
  • Managing the development of complex automation design projects from conception to implementation.
  • Assisting the team in devising effective solutions to intricate challenges, ranging from system-level issues to individual components.
  • Establishing engineering processes and protocols to facilitate team success.
  • Mentoring colleagues and engaging in collaborative design efforts to foster technical growth.
  • Defining project scope, requirements, budget, and timelines accurately, while prioritizing tasks aligned with the company's strategic roadmap.
  • Guiding design efforts towards efficient deployment, large-scale manufacturing, and long-term reliability.
  • Identifying and implementing mechanical design enhancements and product modifications to resolve issues, employing a data-driven approach to verify effectiveness.
  • Leading cost reduction initiatives as designs progress.
  • Ensuring high standards of data management, including modeling quality, drawing accuracy, and integration with product lifecycle management systems.
  • Collaborating with global suppliers to maintain product and manufacturing quality.
  • Working with new product introduction and operations teams to facilitate hardware deployment in new facilities.
  • Contributing to a positive workplace culture and promoting robust engineering practices and workflows.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 12 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • 5+ years of experience in designing high-reliability automation or robotic systems.
  • Experience in both startup environments and larger, established organizations.
  • Expertise in motorized and pneumatic mechanisms.
  • A collaborative mindset with a focus on enhancing the capabilities of team members.
  • Hands-on problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot effectively.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, particularly Solidworks, along with experience in product lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in designing and manufacturing components and assemblies at scale.
  • Six Sigma certification.
  • Project management experience.
  • Background in food technology.
  • A desire to thrive in a dynamic startup atmosphere.
