We are a leading provider of automotive testing facilities, offering a comprehensive suite of services to clients in the commercial automotive sector. Our clientele includes major vehicle manufacturers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), as well as participants from the global motorsports arena.

Our expertise spans nearly every category of automotive testing facility, including climatic and driveability wind tunnels; aerodynamic, acoustic, and thermodynamic wind tunnels; emissions testing rooms; soak rooms; altitude chambers; engine and powertrain testing cells; and electromagnetic anechoic chambers. We not only design and construct these facility systems but also manage, operate, and maintain them.

We are looking for skilled Wind Tunnel Technicians.

This is an afternoon shift role - 3pm to 11:30pm. Initial training will occur during the day, transitioning to afternoon shifts after a few months. A shift premium is provided for afternoon work.

BRIEF OVERVIEW OF SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Preparation and de-preparation of vehicles (installation and removal of wind tunnel instrumentation)
    • Operation of wind tunnels and chassis dynamometers
    • Customer interface and support in the garage, soak rooms, and testing cells
    • Responding to all radio communications
    • Managing vehicle entries and exits in the database
    • Monitoring vehicle status across various databases
    • Installation and removal of camouflage on test vehicles
    • Vehicle cleaning as required
    • Assisting with cold chamber defrosting and defogging tests
    • Driver support for testing cells and soak rooms
    • Providing assistance to all technicians
    • Maintaining cleanliness and organization in all garage areas

Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND/OR SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma
  • Availability for afternoon shifts - 3pm to 11:30pm.
  • Basic understanding of automotive components and their functions
  • Fundamental knowledge of electrical testing methods
  • Basic computer skills and interfacing abilities
  • General technical aptitude
  • Strong customer service skills and a positive attitude
  • Effective communication skills

Preferred:

3 years of experience as an automotive mechanic or in wind tunnel/dynamometer operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting: Handling parts, cables, and lightweight instrumentation, up to 50 lbs., 60%

  • Special clothing/equipment: Safety glasses, gloves, slip-resistant shoes, 100%. Cold gear provided as needed.
  • Physical demands: Sitting (50%), Standing (50%), Bending (25%), Stooping (25%). The role involves manual labor.
  • Noise level: High noise in certain areas, requiring hearing protection, 20%

Work Environment:

  • Location: Primarily inside a testing facility, 90%
  • Temperature extremes: Exposure to -40F to 140F, very limited exposure at extreme temperatures, 10%
  • Hazardous conditions: Involves energized samples and rotating parts, 50%
  • Travel requirements: Occasional local travel, 5%

Equipment and Tools:

  • Office equipment: Computers, copy machines, fax machines, 25%
  • Vehicles and forklifts: Low lift and forklift (certification provided on-site), 15%
  • Tools: Hand tools, multi-meters, and other electrical diagnostic devices, 10%

Attendance Requirements:

  • Work schedule: Monday through Friday with occasional overtime and weekends.
  • Shift: Afternoon shift, with flexibility to support varying test schedules, including weekends. Potential for shift changes based on demand.
  • Attendance necessity: Critical
  • Punctuality urgency: Critical
  • Standard work hours: Typically 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, Monday-Friday. Regular attendance is essential. Punctuality and consistent attendance are required. Flexibility is necessary to accommodate weekend testing needs.

Additional Essential Functions:

Completion of pre-employment drug screening, health performance evaluation, and background check is required, along with:

  • Altitude examination
  • Audiogram
  • Power Motor Vehicle Examination
  • Demonstration of professional behavior in interactions with customers, management, and colleagues.
  • Clear and effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Appropriate grooming and attire for the position, ensuring no safety risks to self or others.
  • Maintaining a positive work environment through professional behavior and communication.
  • Reliable personal transportation to the work site is required.
