As a leading provider of automotive testing facilities, we offer a comprehensive suite of services to our clients in the automotive sector. Our clientele includes major vehicle manufacturers, original equipment producers (OEMs), and participants from the global motorsports arena.

Our expertise spans a diverse range of automotive testing environments, including climatic and driveability wind tunnels, aerodynamic and acoustic wind tunnels, emissions testing rooms, soak rooms, altitude chambers, engine and powertrain test cells, and electromagnetic anechoic chambers. We not only design and construct these facility systems but also manage, operate, and maintain them.

We are seeking an engine lab test technician. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with engines and a solid foundation in automotive principles.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform a variety of non-standard gasoline and diesel engine dynamometer tests.
  • Assist in development, durability, and performance evaluations within an engine dynamometer setting.
  • Gather, assess, and verify data for precision and thoroughness, providing recommendations to engineering teams.
  • Construct basic fixtures and collaborate with Technologists, Product Engineers, and Supervisors on updates and new testing protocols, equipment, and methodologies.
  • Ensure the calibration and upkeep of testing apparatus and systems.
  • Install engines on dynamometers, connect instrumentation, troubleshoot issues, conduct tests, replace engine components as needed, and remove engines and instrumentation post-testing.

This is a full-time position, offering benefits such as medical, dental, and vision insurance, along with 14 paid holidays and 17 days of paid time off. We also provide $5,000 annually for tuition reimbursement. All necessary tools and personal protective equipment are supplied.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

  • High School Diploma
  • At least two (2) years of relevant experience or vocational training.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools.
  • Strong interpersonal, computer, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of engines and powertrain systems.

Preferred:

  • Pursuing an Associate's Degree in Automotive Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience in gasoline and diesel engine testing.
  • Experience with engine/powertrain dynamometer testing or similar methodologies is advantageous.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting: Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, including engine components such as intakes, exhaust parts, and drive shafts (35% of the time).
  • Special Equipment: Safety glasses, slip-resistant shoes, gloves, and appropriate clothing are mandatory (100% of the time).
  • Work Environment: Primarily indoors, with exposure to high noise levels from engine testing.

Attendance:

Regular attendance is crucial, with a standard schedule of 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday. Flexibility may be required to accommodate testing needs.

Other essential functions include passing a pre-employment drug screening, health evaluation, and background check. Professional conduct is expected at all times when interacting with clients, management, and colleagues.
