Jacobs is a leading provider of automotive testing facilities, offering comprehensive services to clients in the automotive sector. Our clientele includes major automotive manufacturers and participants from the global motorsports arena.

We have extensive experience in various types of automotive testing environments, including climatic and driveability wind tunnels, aerodynamic and acoustic chambers, emissions testing rooms, and engine dynamometer facilities. We not only design and construct these facilities but also manage and maintain them.

We are seeking an Engine Lab Test Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with engines and a solid understanding of automotive systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct diverse gasoline and diesel engine dynamometer tests.
  • Assist in development, durability, and performance assessments within the engine dynamometer facility.
  • Gather, analyze, and validate data for precision and completeness, providing insights to engineering teams.
  • Fabricate basic testing fixtures and collaborate with Technologists and Engineers on new testing protocols and equipment.
  • Ensure calibration and upkeep of testing apparatus and systems.
  • Install engines on dynamometers, connect instrumentation, troubleshoot issues, perform tests, and manage engine components.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma.
  • At least two years of relevant experience or vocational training.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
  • Strong interpersonal, computer, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with engines and powertrain systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pursuing an Associate's Degree in Automotive Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience in engine testing.
  • Experience with dynamometer testing for engines or similar methodologies is advantageous.

Essential Functions:

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, including engine components.
  • Job involves manual labor, requiring a mix of sitting, standing, and bending.
  • Safety gear is mandatory, including safety glasses and slip-resistant footwear.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily indoor work with exposure to high noise levels from engine testing.
  • Conditions may involve hot temperatures from engine operations.

Attendance Expectations:

  • Regular attendance is critical, with a standard schedule of 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.
  • Flexibility in work hours may be required to accommodate testing needs.

All candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and background check. Professional conduct and clear communication skills are essential in this role.
