As the leading provider of automotive testing facilities globally, we offer a comprehensive range of services to clients in the commercial automotive sector. Our clientele includes major vehicle manufacturers, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and participants from the international motorsport arena.

Our expertise spans a wide array of automotive testing facilities, such as climatic and driveability wind tunnels, aerodynamic, acoustic, and thermodynamic wind tunnels, emissions testing rooms, soak rooms, altitude chambers, engine and powertrain test cells, and electromagnetic anechoic chambers. We not only design and construct these facility systems but also operate, maintain, and manage them.

We are seeking an engine lab test technician to join our facility. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with engines and a solid understanding of automotive principles.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform a diverse range of non-standard gasoline and diesel engine dynamometer testing.
  • Assist in development, durability, and performance evaluations within an engine dynamometer environment.
  • Gather, assess, and validate data for precision and completeness, providing recommendations to engineering teams.
  • Construct basic fixtures and collaborate with Technologists, Product Engineers, and Supervisors on updates to testing procedures, equipment, and methodologies.
  • Ensure the calibration and upkeep of testing equipment and systems.
  • Install engines on dynamometers, connect instrumentation, troubleshoot issues, conduct tests, replace engine components as necessary, and remove engines and instrumentation post-testing.

This is a full-time position with benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 14 paid holidays, and 17 days of paid time off. We also provide $5,000 annually for tuition reimbursement. All necessary tools and personal protective equipment are supplied.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

  • High School Diploma
  • At least two (2) years of relevant experience or vocational training.
  • Proficient in operating hand and power tools.
  • Strong interpersonal, computer, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with engines and powertrain systems.

Preferred:

  • Pursuing an Associate's Degree in Automotive Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience in gasoline and diesel engine testing.
  • Experience with engine/powertrain dynamometer testing or similar methodologies is advantageous.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, including engine components such as intakes, exhaust parts, and other related accessories (35% of the time).
  • Special Clothing/Equipment: Safety glasses, slip-resistant shoes, gloves, long pants, and short-sleeve shirts (100% of the time).
  • Work Environment: Primarily indoors (100% of the time) with exposure to high temperatures from engines and cold start tests.
  • Hazardous Conditions: Involves rotating equipment, hot exhaust, and potential trip hazards (100% of the time).

Attendance Requirements:

  • Regular attendance is critical, with a standard schedule of 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday.
  • Flexibility to cover additional shifts may be required.

Other essential functions include passing a pre-employment drug screening, health performance evaluation, and background check. Professional behavior is expected at all times when interacting with customers, management, and colleagues. Clear and effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written, are essential.
