Staff Mechanical Engineer

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a highly skilled Staff Mechanical Engineer to join our team. As a Staff Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems for a variety of projects, including airports, government, military, process, corporate, institutional, industrial, and manufacturing facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Perform mechanical and plumbing design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
- Modify and review production drawings for a variety of projects.
- Design mechanical components for project needs and requirements.
- Apply strong knowledge of commonly used mechanical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the mechanical engineering services industry.
- Research and compile project-related data as required by the project managers.
- Update drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD related software.
- Compile information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of power, process, pipeline, industrial, airports, commercial, and governmental and military facilities.
- Perform field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.
- Or Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering may be substituted for 1 year experience.
- 3 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
- Successful completion (i.e. passing) FE or EIT preferred.
- LEED AP BD C is preferred or a desire to obtain accreditation
- Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrate critical thinking skills.
- Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
- Strong computer skills include AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D Rendering Programs, hydraulic analysis, and HVAC analysis programs.
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
