Job Summary

The Utilities Engineer II will provide essential services and support for the operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of mechanical systems, including HVAC and electrical systems across campus facilities. Responsibilities include maintaining a comprehensive equipment replacement plan, developing annual maintenance execution strategies, and identifying training needs for operations and maintenance personnel.

Key Responsibilities

1. Engineering Support: Assist in the management and operation of mechanical utility systems, ensuring efficient performance and compliance with regulations.

2. Record Management: Oversee the collection and maintenance of operational records, ensuring timely reporting and compliance with environmental regulations.

3. Project Management: Lead and manage repair and replacement projects for mechanical systems, coordinating with in-house teams and contractors.

4. Equipment Planning: Maintain a strategic equipment replacement plan and develop annual maintenance execution plans.

5. Problem Solving: Collaborate with area managers to address mechanical system issues effectively.

6. Training Coordination: Identify and facilitate training needs for operations and maintenance staff.

7. Reporting: Compile and produce engineering reports, utilizing various data sources and creating visual aids as necessary.

8. Procurement Responsibilities: May require obtaining a state-issued purchasing card for material procurement.

9. Project Interface: Act as a liaison for various project groups, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration.

10. Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience: A minimum of four to six years of relevant experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications: Certification as a Fundamentals Examine (FE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT), and a Professional Engineer License are advantageous.

Skills and Abilities

Proficiency in engineering tools, procurement procedures, and technical documentation is essential. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with a solid understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, are necessary for success in this role.
