Position Overview:
As a Mechanical and Electrical Systems Engineer, you will oversee and assess critical information pertaining to mechanical and electrical systems to ensure timely and safe project completion, adhering to budget constraints and quality standards outlined in the contract documents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate collaboration among the Turner project team, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure effective installation of systems.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive list of contract items, ensuring compliance with project timelines and approvals.
  • Actively participate in schedule review meetings, providing updates for accurate project timelines.
  • Oversee the processing of Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Manage the project budget, including reviewing and negotiating change orders while understanding subcontractor financial statuses.
  • Mentor and supervise Assistant MEP Engineers.
  • Collaborate with the VDC Engineer to lead the MEP Coordination Process, ensuring compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
  • Draft scope of work documents delineating responsibilities for various trades.
  • Work alongside the MEP Superintendent to address conflicts between mechanical and electrical systems and the site logistics plan.
  • Co-manage the turnover process, including start-up, testing, commissioning, and project closeout.
  • Conduct regular site inspections with MEP staff to ensure adherence to contract documents and approved plans.
  • Proactively identify and communicate complex installation requirements to field staff for effective planning.
  • Secure all necessary municipal and agency documentation for temporary certificates of information and system operation.
  • Develop and implement a quality control plan in partnership with the MEP Superintendent.

Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering along with a minimum of four years of relevant experience in mechanical and electrical systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A strong technical understanding of various mechanical and electrical systems and their interrelations is essential. Candidates should demonstrate business acumen, effective communication skills, and organizational proficiency. Leadership qualities that foster team development are highly valued.

Physical Requirements:
This role may require physical activities such as climbing stairs, using construction personnel hoists, and navigating construction sites. Vision capabilities must include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs may be necessary.

Work Environment:
Employees will primarily work on-site at construction locations, which may involve exposure to moving machinery, high places, and varying weather conditions. Noise levels in these environments can range from moderate to very loud.
