Position Overview

The role involves providing comprehensive services and support for the energy management, operation, maintenance, repair, replacement, and regulatory compliance of various mechanical systems, including HVAC, chilled water, steam, and sewer systems, as well as electrical systems, including high voltage components across the campus.


Key Responsibilities

1. Engineering Support: Assist the Utilities Superintendent and Power Plant Superintendent in the effective operation and maintenance of mechanical utility generating and distribution equipment.

2. Record Management: Coordinate the collection and maintenance of operational records, ensuring timely completion and submission of compliance reports and updates on permits.

3. Project Management: Develop and oversee replacement and repair projects for mechanical systems, utilizing both in-house and contracted services.

4. Equipment Planning: Maintain a comprehensive equipment replacement plan and develop the annual maintenance, repair, and replacement execution strategy.

5. Problem Solving: Collaborate with area managers to address and resolve mechanical system issues effectively.

6. Training Coordination: Identify training needs for operations and maintenance staff and facilitate the achievement of those objectives through appropriate training services.

7. Reporting: Compile and produce engineering reports, utilizing various data sources and creating visual aids such as charts and spreadsheets.

8. Procurement Responsibilities: May require obtaining a state-issued purchasing card to procure necessary materials in accordance with state purchasing guidelines.

9. Project Interface: Act as a liaison for various projects, coordinating with multiple teams and stakeholders.


Qualifications

Educational Background: A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: A minimum of four to six years of relevant job experience is required.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office Suite and CAD software, is essential. Strong analytical and communication skills are necessary for effective report interpretation and presentation.


Working Conditions

The position may involve working in environments with hazardous materials and machinery, requiring adherence to safety protocols and the ability to lift heavy objects. Flexibility in working hours may be necessary to address urgent operational needs.
