Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at KAI Design. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing mechanical engineering systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Perform engineering design evaluations and lead project engineering design, specific to Mechanical and Plumbing Engineering.
  • Code Compliance: Have thorough knowledge of the applicable Building, Mechanical, and Plumbing Codes.
  • System Design: Have ability to design mechanical systems, energy modeling analysis, energy code compliance calculations.
  • Project Analysis: Prepare engineering analysis of projects, to include preliminary design, budget analysis, calculations, life cycle costs, and equipment selection.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare drawings and layouts; proficient in Revit and/or AutoCAD.
  • Specifications: Prepare technical construction specifications.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with other disciplines with both in-house and outside consultants.
  • Field Observations: Perform field observations as part of the construction quality assurance process.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Assist with project schedules and assign work to team as needed.
  • Technical Presentations: Deliver technical presentations to internal and external audiences as required as part of the design process.
  • Fee Calculations: Prepare fee calculations.
  • Staff Development: Support training and development of staff.

  • Design Skills: Design: Generates creative solutions; translates concepts and information into images; uses feedback to modify designs; applies design principles; demonstrates attention to detail.
  • Computer Skills: Computer skills: Microsoft Windows environment, Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, Teams, AutoCAD, Revit, HVAC Loads & Energy Modeling.
  • Certifications: Required Certifications: BS Mechanical Engineering or BS Architectural Engineering with Mechanical emphasis, PE License
