Position Overview

The Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History Foundation is embarking on an exciting journey as it seeks a Community Engagement Coordinator focused on Outdoor Equity. Key Responsibilities
The Community Engagement Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Senior Manager of Community Engagement to:

  • Research, develop, and implement the WILD LA program, supported by the Parks & Recreation Outdoor Equity grant.
  • Co-create and facilitate the Wild LA Internship curriculum for a cohort of interns, ensuring a comprehensive and enriching experience.
  • Organize and coordinate six annual field trips and two overnight camping excursions to local parks, managing logistics and participant communication.
  • Foster relationships with community partners to enhance participation and engagement in our programs.
  • Assist in the production of educational materials for field trips and camping experiences.

Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who possess:

  • 1-3 years of experience in project management, particularly in educational programming and event coordination.
  • A proven track record of working with diverse audiences and communities.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey ideas effectively.
  • Proficiency in using Google Office Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, Mail, Chrome).
  • A valid California Driver License and the ability to utilize personal transportation for job-related duties.
  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as environmental education, community organizing, or museum studies.
  • Knowledge in areas represented by the museum, such as biology, paleontology, or anthropology, is preferred.
  • Fluency in a second language is a plus.
