Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a Clinical Authorization Specialist for Diagnostic Imaging. In this pivotal position, you will enhance the patient experience throughout the Cancer Care Continuum by ensuring a seamless process for insurance approvals related to diagnostic imaging services. Your expertise will be vital in navigating any challenges that may arise with diligence and empathy.

Employment Type: Full-Time, 40 Hours

Location: On-site

Salary: Competitive hourly rate

Role Scope: Under general supervision, you will review medical treatments in line with reimbursement policies. You will obtain necessary pre-authorizations and exceptions to prevent delays in treatment reimbursement. Additionally, you will investigate denied claims and explore alternative funding resources to ensure patients receive the care they need. Compliance with the US Oncology Compliance Program, including adherence to the Code of Ethics and Business Standards, is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and process the medical necessity of treatment plans and ensure documentation aligns with established pathways.
  • Collaborate with nursing and medical personnel to communicate any specific requirements or restrictions dictated by insurance providers.
  • Provide timely feedback to physicians and management regarding documentation and payer-related issues.
  • Secure insurance authorizations and pre-certifications specifically for diagnostic imaging services, acting as a patient advocate to address reimbursement inquiries and mitigate insurance delays.
  • Research alternative resources for services not covered by insurance to avoid payment denials, offering patients a comprehensive list of community resources, including special programs and financial assistance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; an Associate's degree in Healthcare or a relevant field is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of three years of experience in medical insurance verification and authorization is required.
