Senior Tax Accountant Position

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and accurately implement sales tax laws, ensuring timely payments and adherence to both state and local tax regulations.
  • Supervise the preparation and filing of sales tax returns to appropriate authorities, adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Participate in sales tax audits, providing responses to inquiries and essential documentation to substantiate our tax positions.
  • Remain informed about evolving sales tax regulations, adapting and integrating these changes into our operational practices.
  • Develop, enhance, and uphold commission calculation procedures, ensuring precision and promptness in compensating sales personnel.
  • Create detailed commission reports for management and sales teams, offering actionable insights and performance evaluations.
  • Timely generate and send invoices and statements, maintaining accuracy and compliance with payment agreements.
  • Examine and manage accounts receivable aging reports, identifying and resolving overdue accounts.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable transactions, including adjustments, refunds, and credits.
  • Contribute to month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets.
  • Support external audits by supplying necessary documentation and information requested by auditors.
  • Perform other related tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience with at least 5 years in sales tax compliance, commission calculations, and accounts receivable management.
  • Thorough knowledge of state and local sales tax laws.
  • Proficient in accounting software, spreadsheet applications, and financial systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a dedication to accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
