Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and accurately implement sales tax laws, ensuring timely payments and adherence to both state and local tax regulations.
  • Manage the preparation and filing of sales tax returns to appropriate authorities, ensuring compliance with strict deadlines.
  • Assist in sales tax audits by providing necessary documentation and responses to inquiries to substantiate our tax positions.
  • Keep informed of evolving sales tax regulations, adapting and integrating these changes into our operational processes.
  • Develop, enhance, and oversee commission calculation procedures, ensuring precision and promptness in compensating sales personnel.
  • Create detailed commission reports for management and sales teams, offering valuable insights and performance evaluations.
  • Timely generate and send invoices and statements, maintaining accuracy and compliance with payment agreements.
  • Review and manage accounts receivable aging reports, proactively identifying and resolving overdue accounts.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable transactions, including adjustments, refunds, and credits.
  • Contribute significantly to month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Play a vital role in assisting with budget formulation.
  • Support external audits by supplying required documentation and information requested by auditors.
  • Perform additional related tasks as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience with at least 5 years in sales tax compliance, commission calculations, and accounts receivable management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of state and local sales tax regulations.
  • Proficient in accounting software, spreadsheet applications, and financial systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a dedication to high accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
