Job Overview

Position Title: Crisis Worker - Residential

Reports To: Program Director

Position Summary:

The Crisis Worker operates under the supervision of Management, ensuring adherence to all operational protocols and regulations. This role involves delivering direct support to clients, their families, and associated resources, aiding clients in achieving their treatment objectives.

Work Schedule:

Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday

4:30 PM to 12:30 AM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Telephone Crisis Duties: Manage the National Suicide Lifeline, assess incoming calls, and provide suitable telephone counseling, consultation, evaluation, and referrals to necessary services, including Mobile and/or Residential Crisis Intervention.
  • Residential Crisis Duties: Responsibilities include early morning wake-ups, daily scheduling, meal preparation, and maintaining approved appointments as directed by supervisory staff.
  • Community Engagement: Facilitate referrals and case management services for clients and families during interactions, whether via phone, in the community, or in the residence prior to discharge.
  • Medication Oversight: Observe scheduled and as-needed medication administration and assist the Residential Nurse with tasks such as monitoring vital signs.
  • Supportive Counseling: Conduct psycho-educational sessions, skills training, and supportive crisis counseling in either residential or community settings.
  • Client Interaction: Dedicate at least 75% of scheduled time to direct, face-to-face, or telephone interactions with clients.

Administrative Duties:

  • Complete all required documentation as mandated by RHD, funding bodies, and licensing/accreditation organizations.

Community Interaction:

  • Engage in community involvement and teamwork, providing referrals and case management services during client interactions.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in fields such as sociology, social work, psychology, or related disciplines.
  • High school diploma or equivalent with 12 semester credit hours in relevant social sciences.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in human services, including at least one year in mental health direct care.

Working Conditions:

This role is set in a residential or community environment. Employees may frequently stand, walk, lift, and reach. Willingness to travel as required for job-related duties is essential.

Physical Requirements:

  • Medium lifting: up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.

Additional Requirements:

Mobile units are required to operate within the service area, visiting clients in their homes and providing community support.

  • Direct Supervisor: Assistant Unit Director
  • Directly Supervises: None
  • Collaborates with: Program Specialist, Mental Health Professional
