Job Overview

Position Title: Crisis Worker - Residential

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Program Director

Position Summary:

The Crisis Worker operates under the guidance of Management to ensure adherence to all operational protocols and regulations. This role involves delivering direct support to clients, their families, and associated resources, facilitating the achievement of treatment objectives.

Work Schedule:

Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday from 4:30 PM to 12:30 AM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Telephone Crisis Management: Handle calls to the National Suicide Lifeline, assess incoming inquiries, and provide suitable telephone counseling, consultation, evaluation, and referrals to necessary services, including Mobile and/or Residential Crisis Intervention.
  • Residential Crisis Duties: Responsibilities include early wake-ups, daily scheduling, meal preparation, and maintaining approved appointments as directed by supervisory staff.
  • Community Engagement: Offer referral and case management services to clients and families during interactions, whether via phone, in the community, or at the residence prior to discharge.
  • Medication Oversight: Observe and assist with scheduled and as-needed medication checks, under the direction of the Residential Nurse, including monitoring vital signs.
  • Psycho-Educational Support: Conduct skills training and supportive crisis counseling in both residential and community settings.
  • Client Interaction: Dedicate at least 75% of scheduled time to direct interactions with clients, whether face-to-face or via telephone.

Administrative Duties:

  • Complete all required documentation as per RHD, funding bodies, and licensing/accreditation standards.

Community Interaction:

  • Engage in community activities and teamwork, providing referrals and case management services to clients and families during contact.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred, with coursework in sociology, social work, psychology, gerontology, or related fields.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with 12 semester credit hours in relevant social sciences.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in human services, including at least one year in mental health direct care.

Working Conditions:

This role is set in a residential or community environment. Employees may frequently need to stand, walk, lift, and reach. Willingness to travel as required for job responsibilities is essential.

Physical Requirements:

  • Medium lifting capacity: able to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly.

Additional Requirements:

Mobile units may be required to drive within the service area and provide support in the community.
