Zurich Insurance Company Ltd is seeking a Commercial Property Claims Specialist to enhance our operations. This role is designed for remote work, with candidates located within the U.S.

In this position, you will be tasked with managing both single and multi-party claims related to personal or commercial lines that exhibit low to moderate levels of risk and complexity. Your focus will be on adhering to established protocols to ensure efficient and effective claims handling while prioritizing customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain comprehensive claims files by accurately documenting and updating claims data in line with best practices.
  • Utilize analytical skills to assess liability by gathering relevant information and applying applicable laws.
  • Verify policy coverage by evaluating claims against the established coverage criteria.
  • Facilitate timely claim resolutions by developing case strategies and escalating issues when necessary.
  • Set appropriate reserves and conduct ongoing reviews throughout the claims process within your authority limits.
  • Calculate damages based on legal allowances and applicable regulations.
  • Negotiate settlements by crafting effective negotiation strategies and utilizing available resources.
  • Adhere to quality standards by following established best practices.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service through proactive communication and responsiveness to inquiries.
  • Manage expenses by collaborating with approved vendors and overseeing the scope of work assigned to external contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations as well as internal controls.
  • Identify potential subrogation and fraud cases and refer them to the appropriate teams.
  • Contribute to the growth of the organization by providing valuable insights and trends to the business unit or clients.
  • Safeguard Zurich's reputation by maintaining confidentiality regarding claims information.
  • Enhance professional knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and staying updated on industry trends.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the Claims or Insurance sector
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3 years of experience in Claims or Insurance
    OR
  • Completion of Zurich Claims Training Program with 3 years of experience in Claims or Insurance
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with 5 years of experience in Claims or Insurance
    AND
  • Must possess and maintain required adjuster license(s).
  • Proficient understanding of insurance regulations, markets, and products.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Effective time management and prioritization skills.
  • Experience in collaborative team environments and building cross-functional relationships.
  • Adept at explaining complex financial and actuarial concepts.
  • Ability to assess the scope and exposure of moderately complex claims.
  • Understanding of the reserving process for indemnity and expenses.
  • Capability to develop and implement negotiation strategies for claim resolutions.
  • Skill in identifying nuances in client and business partner interactions.
  • Ability to present necessary information for proposing claim resolutions to stakeholders.
