Position Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Claims Professional (Attorney) specializing in Surety claims. This role is designed for candidates located within the U.S. and will be conducted in a virtual setting, allowing for a home-based office environment.

Key Responsibilities:
In this position, you will oversee a portfolio of moderate to high complexity Surety claims from initiation to resolution, adhering to specific authority limits. Your primary duties will include:

  • Evaluating coverage, liability, and damages associated with claims.
  • Engaging in mediations and negotiating settlements.
  • Preparing coverage and denial letters, along with notifying underwriters of claim-related issues.
  • Drafting comprehensive case summary reports, particularly for significant reserve increases and trial preparations.
  • Coordinating activities with defense counsel.

Travel may be required up to 25% for site visits or other business-related needs.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess the following:

  • A Juris Doctor degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in the legal field.
  • At least 5 years of legal practice experience within the insurance sector.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain necessary adjuster licenses.
  • Experience in insurance claims and familiarity with the legal and regulatory landscape.
  • Proven negotiation skills and a strong customer service orientation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Skills:
Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Membership in the bar association.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Compensation:
Compensation for this position will vary based on several factors, including office location, role, skill set, and experience level. The starting salary range for this position is between $130,000 and $170,000.
