Position Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Surety Claims Attorney to manage a portfolio of moderate to high complexity Surety claims. This role is fully remote, allowing for a home-based office setup.
Key Responsibilities:
In this position, you will:
- Oversee a caseload of Surety claims from initiation to resolution, adhering to specific authority limits.
- Ensure claims are processed efficiently, aligning with Zurich's best practices and commitment to customer service.
- Foster strong relationships through effective communication with principals, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
Essential Duties:
- Evaluate coverage, liability, and damages associated with claims.
- Engage in mediations and negotiate settlements.
- Prepare coverage and denial correspondence, along with notifications to underwriters regarding claim issues.
- Draft comprehensive case summary reports for significant reserve adjustments and trial preparations.
- Direct the activities of defense counsel as necessary.
- Travel approximately 25% for site visits or business needs.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the legal field.
- At least 5 years of legal practice experience specifically in the insurance sector.
- Must obtain and maintain necessary adjuster licenses.
- Familiarity with insurance claims and the legal/regulatory landscape.
- Proven negotiation and customer service skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Skills:
- Active member of the bar.
- Detail-oriented with strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
Compensation:
Compensation varies based on factors such as location, role, skills, and experience. The starting salary range for this position is between $130,000 and $170,000.
