Position Overview

Compensation: $20/hr

Overview: At Sammamish Presbyterian Church (SPC), we offer a variety of services and events that require childcare support, allowing parents to engage fully. As a childcare assistant, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children in the Sammamish community. Your responsibilities may vary, as you could be caring for infants or engaging with older elementary-aged children, depending on the needs of the day. Flexibility is essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver reliable, safe, and nurturing care to children.
  • Provide age-appropriate care, which may include:
    • Feeding
    • Changing diapers while following safety protocols, including the presence of another adult.
    • Escorting children to the restroom while adhering to safety guidelines.
    • Ensuring a secure environment for all children.
    • Sanitizing play areas after use.
    • Engaging with children through games, storytelling, music, and play.
  • Maintain a polite and friendly demeanor towards children, parents, and fellow team members.
  • Arrive punctually and prepare the classroom for the children’s arrival.
  • Remain on-site until all children are safely with their designated guardians.
  • Before departure, tidy the room and clean any toys or furniture used.
  • Report any concerns or issues to the Childcare Team Lead present.
  • Communicate any planned absences with the Children's Ministry Director at least two weeks in advance, and notify them of any unplanned absences with a minimum of 24 hours' notice.

Supervision and Accountability: This position is supervised by the Childcare Team Leader and the Director of Children's Ministry.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in caring for children aged 0 to 11 is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Must be at least 14 years old.
  • Successful completion of a background check is required.
  • CPR certification for infants and children is preferred (training will be provided if necessary).
  • Adherence to Child Protection Policy Guidelines is mandatory.

Work Schedule: Hours and days will vary. Compensation is set at $20/hr.
