Position Overview

The role of Broadcast Systems Engineer is pivotal in the design, implementation, monitoring, and upkeep of production equipment systems as a key member of the Video/Audio/Broadcast Engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

This position demands a thorough understanding of technical facilities, intricate broadcast production equipment systems, and computer and data network resources within the engineering environment.
  • Quickly identify issues and propose alternative solutions to ensure production timelines are met.
  • Ability to grasp complex concepts and workflows effectively.
  • Engage in the training and continuous education of production staff on equipment and system operations.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts as necessary.
  • Flexibility to work a rotating 24/7 schedule as required.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in maintaining professional Video, Audio, Post Production, and Broadcast systems, including hands-on management of various systems.
  • Proven experience in the development and deployment of professional Video and Audio systems using contemporary tools.
  • Involvement in the development of new and emerging post-production, media management, and broadcast processes.
  • Collaboration with engineers and operators to design, develop, and implement new systems and processes, contributing to roadmap planning across multiple media systems.
  • Management of post-production system life cycles.
  • Leadership and management experience is advantageous.
Technical Skills
  • Proficient knowledge of data networking.
  • Strong computer skills across Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems.
  • Familiarity with current video and audio editing systems.
  • Understanding of graphics software, including Adobe Creative Suite and VizRT.
  • Experience with BlackMagic DaVinci Resolve.
  • Knowledge of Vantage transcoding systems.
  • Familiarity with Avid systems.
  • Experience with Enterprise Storage Systems (e.g., Dell/EMC, Vast, OpenDrives, NetApp).
Preferred Qualifications
  • BA/BS in Engineering, Video Production, Communications, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of experience in Video, Audio, and Post Engineering.
  • Experience with Ansible Orchestration and Kubernetes Deployments.
  • Knowledge of SMPTE 2110 systems.

Work Schedule
  • This position is part-time, requiring approximately 30 hours per week, with occasional overtime or weekend work.
Compensation

The compensation for this role reflects the range of salaries that may be offered, with a focus on hiring near the midpoint of the range.
