Position Overview:
The Sustainability Services consulting division is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to deliver comprehensive building systems commissioning services across multiple markets. Candidates should possess a solid understanding of the commissioning process as outlined in ASHRAE Guideline 0, The Commissioning Process.


This role offers the chance to collaborate with technical experts in a supportive environment that values professional growth and recognizes individual contributions.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in project meetings with design and construction teams to discuss project objectives and timelines related to commissioning activities.
  • Develop a comprehensive commissioning plan detailing the systems to be commissioned, processes to be followed, and team member responsibilities.
  • Examine specifications and design documents to ensure systems are commissionable and maintainable.
  • Review project submissions for alignment with design intent and project requirements.
  • Create prefunctional checklists and functional performance testing procedures.
  • Conduct field verification through testing and witnessing to ensure quality and compliance with design specifications.
  • Facilitate resolution of issues among various project stakeholders, demonstrating strong technical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Compile necessary documentation for commissioning closeout, including reports, system manuals, and operational plans.
  • Review operations and maintenance manuals and provide training on equipment and systems.
  • Prepare final commissioning reports and system documentation.
  • Ensure client satisfaction with all tasks performed.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in commissioning, mechanical or electrical design, construction project management, control system installation or maintenance, HVAC testing and balancing, or facilities operations/maintenance.
  • Alternatively, a High School Diploma with 7+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Commissioning certification is desirable; CBCP from AEE or Certified Cx Professional from BCA.
  • Experience with commercial energy codes and/or LEED requirements.
  • Familiarity with commissioning process management software.
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Facilities Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of controls and instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
