Position Overview

The role of a Junior Environmental Engineer/Designer involves contributing to smaller projects and collaborating as part of a larger team under the mentorship of a senior engineer or designer. This position is essential for supporting various environmental engineering tasks and assisting in project evaluations.

Key Responsibilities

As a Junior Environmental Engineer/Designer, your responsibilities will include:
  1. Providing engineering assistance for projects related to environmental site assessments, remediation efforts, wastewater management, and compliance with environmental regulations.
  2. Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure project coordination under the guidance of senior staff.
  3. Conducting fieldwork as directed, which may involve oversight of subcontractors, inspections for erosion and sediment control, and sampling of groundwater and materials.
  4. Utilizing specialized software for calculations and design tasks related to environmental systems.
  5. Preparing essential documentation, including design reports, permit applications, and project plans.
  6. Assisting in the development of erosion control strategies and post-construction stormwater management plans.
  7. Collecting and analyzing data to inform design decisions and ensure project reliability and efficiency.
  8. Performing additional duties as assigned by senior engineering personnel.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience, including internships or co-op positions.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical concepts effectively.
  • Proficiency in software applications commonly used in engineering, such as AutoCAD and GIS.
  • A valid driver's license and a good driving record.

Work Environment

This position requires a combination of fieldwork and office-based tasks. Fieldwork may involve exposure to various weather conditions and physical demands, including lifting equipment and standing for extended periods. Office work will involve using computers and may require prolonged periods of sitting.
