Job Summary:

As a key member of the Compass Group, North America team, the Sous Chef will play a vital role in the successful operation of the Culinary Department. This dynamic individual will assist in the supervision, preparation, and cooking of various food items, developing daily menu items and their preparation and garnishment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Executive Chef in managing cost controls and controlling expenditures for the account.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to plan and create menus that meet the needs of our clients.
  • Produce and execute catering events that exceed client expectations.
  • Roll out new culinary programs in conjunction with the Company's marketing and culinary team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A.S. or equivalent experience in culinary arts or a related field.
  • Some progressive culinary/kitchen management experience, depending on formal degree or training.
  • Catering experience is a plus.
  • High volume, complex foodservice operations experience is highly desirable.
  • Institutional and batch cooking experiences are helpful.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends, with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
  • Must be experienced with computers, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Outlook, email, and the Internet.
  • Must be willing to participate in client satisfaction programs and activities.
  • ServSafe certified is highly desirable.
