Role Summary:

We are in search of a seasoned, growth-oriented Senior Underwriter specializing in E&S Casualty, possessing extensive relationships with wholesale brokers and a deep understanding of E&S Casualty risks. The Senior Underwriter will engage regularly with wholesale brokers to provide coverage solutions for both new and renewal business tailored to client needs. You will collaborate with internal and external partners to develop insurance solutions for various risks. The ideal candidate will thrive in a team-oriented environment, exhibit a strong customer focus, and contribute to reinforcing E&S Casualty's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and sustain a profitable portfolio by executing individual risk underwriting and adhering to the unit's strategic plan.
  • Underwrite and negotiate intricate customer accounts to mitigate risk and enhance profitability.
  • Operate independently within assigned underwriting authority and make necessary referrals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with colleagues, leaders, and internal partners to identify cross-selling opportunities and support product development.
  • Establish and nurture external relationships with wholesale brokers to effectively market and sell The Ladders' offerings.
  • Deliver exceptional service to brokers and clients, ensuring visibility through consistent engagement with trading partners.
  • Stay informed about competitive landscape, underwriting conditions, and market trends, sharing insights with colleagues and leadership.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of underwriting experience in the Property & Casualty insurance sector, with a preference for General Liability and Excess Liability.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of insurance products, regulations, and the broader insurance industry.
  • Strong collaborative abilities and a capacity to excel in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting.
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent organizational, desk management, and prioritization skills, with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Positive, self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Robust technical, analytical, and quantitative skills.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate effectively in challenging situations with agents and brokers.
  • Solution-oriented team player with a strong relationship management skill set, engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional designations such as ASLI, CPCU, ARM, or others are preferred but not mandatory.
  • Willingness to travel 10-15% as needed.
Compensation and Benefits
