ROLE SUMMARY:

The Senior Vice President of Underwriting Operations is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing a diverse team engaged in complex underwriting activities. This position entails providing strategic guidance and support to underwriters involved in new business assessments and credit risk evaluations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the underwriting workflow, ensuring efficient scheduling and management of new deals and credit monitoring activities.
  • Collaborate with the Director to coordinate efforts between origination, underwriting, and credit analysis to achieve timely and thorough evaluations.
  • Set and monitor performance objectives for the underwriting team, establishing quality metrics to enhance productivity.
  • Exhibit strong leadership by mentoring staff and fostering professional development to maximize team effectiveness.
  • Facilitate training initiatives for various team members to ensure a high level of competency in underwriting practices.
  • Evaluate the scope of work performed by external parties, ensuring adherence to quality standards in appraisals and related assessments.
  • Address credit-related inquiries from both internal and external clients, providing solutions to complex issues.
  • Contribute to the refinement of underwriting policies and procedures to align with best practices.
  • Engage in research and analysis to support internal projects and compliance with evolving legislation.
  • Deliver presentations to diverse audiences, effectively communicating underwriting strategies and insights.
  • Participate in credit committee discussions and origination meetings as necessary.
  • Manage recruitment and performance evaluation processes for the underwriting team.
  • Support staff development through coaching and training initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of relevant state and federal regulations impacting underwriting practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities with a focus on staff development.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a proven ability to communicate underwriting findings effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $150,000.00 to $210,000.00 USD, determined by the candidate's qualifications and experience.
