Position Overview:
As the Vice President of Underwriting Center Regional Management, you will be instrumental in steering the profitability and expansion of the Commercial Insurance portfolio within the Pacific North Region, which encompasses approximately $60 million in renewal Property and Casualty premiums.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct accountability for enhancing renewal business production and managing a profitable portfolio.
- National oversight of the Energy sector, including profit and loss management and execution of pivotal renewal strategies for a $10 million portfolio.
- Collaborate with Industry Practice Leaders to bolster a significant growth area for the organization, serving as the primary subject matter expert for the Underwriting Center.
- Lead the profit and loss management for the Inland/Ocean and Property portfolio, which includes national oversight of critical programs such as the agriculture business and the online builders risk platform, representing approximately $65 million in premium.
- Spearhead the Underwriting Center's initiatives for digital transformation in Commercial Insurance.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a robust technical underwriting background, demonstrating proficiency in strategically managing commercial property and casualty challenges. This role entails leadership responsibilities for team performance and development, ensuring the achievement of underwriting profitability, adherence to established strategies, and exceeding customer service expectations.
Essential Skills:
- Proven ability to implement Commercial product strategies through a comprehensive understanding of the underwriting process, ensuring a profitable business mix to sustain and grow the portfolio.
- Maintain underwriting integrity through effective education and self-audit processes.
- Experience in developing and refining key underwriting processes to enhance productivity and efficiency.
Communication and Relationship Management:
- Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to cultivate and maintain robust internal and external relationships.
- Effective training and coaching capabilities are crucial for this position, along with a deep understanding of casualty and property product lines.
Educational Background:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
- The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3-5 years of commercial underwriting experience, including prior experience in a managerial role.
