Summary Statement

The individuals in these roles will be stationed at various facilities within DelDOT. Their primary responsibility is to maintain safety and security, enforcing relevant regulations and policies. Key responsibilities include: managing crisis situations, conducting patrols, performing searches, and overseeing individuals during group activities.

Essential Functions

The essential functions listed below are core responsibilities applicable to all positions within this classification and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties for any specific role:

  • Monitors client behavior and reports any changes to the appropriate staff; oversees visitor conduct and intervenes in potentially volatile situations.
  • Responds to emergencies involving individuals and assists in maintaining order.
  • Ensures the safety of individuals and property in accordance with established policies.
  • Monitors the safety of state property and the well-being of staff and visitors by controlling access points.
  • Responds to internal emergency communications and coordinates with relevant authorities.
  • Utilizes communication systems to verify authorized access and manage entry.
  • Acts promptly in response to internal hazards or emergencies.
  • Conducts regular inspections of facilities to ensure safety devices are functional.
  • Performs searches for contraband and conducts client counts as necessary.
  • Provides information and assistance to visitors as needed.
  • May be required to maintain logs, compile statistics, and prepare incident reports.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Forensic Security Officer I

Candidates must demonstrate competence in the following areas:

  • A minimum of six months of experience in maintaining safety and security within facilities.
  • Familiarity with security systems and surveillance technology.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked, or canceled).
