Summary Statement
The individuals in these roles will be stationed at the Delaware Psychiatric Center (DPC) within the Jane E. Mitchell (JEM). Their primary responsibilities include ensuring safety and security, enforcing institutional regulations, and adhering to policies pertinent to clients from the Department of Corrections. Key responsibilities involve: managing crisis situations, conducting foot patrols of patient units, performing room and building inspections, and supervising clients during meals and group activities.Essential Functions

Monitors client behavior and notifies nursing and clinical staff of any significant changes; oversees visitor conduct; and intervenes to de-escalate potentially volatile situations. Responds to psychiatric emergencies involving aggressive clients and assists in detaining trespassers and locating missing clients. Maintains order and security of individuals and property in accordance with established safety and security protocols. Ensures the safety of state property and the well-being of staff and visitors by managing access through secure entry points within the forensic facility. Responds to internal emergency calls via the facility's emergency communication system, relaying critical information to the appropriate personnel and monitoring alarm systems. Utilizes electronic communication and surveillance systems to verify authorized access and manage entry from the control center. Addresses internal hazards, emergencies, and fire incidents promptly. Conducts regular inspections of the forensic buildings, units, and perimeter, ensuring that all safety mechanisms on doors and windows are functional and secure. Performs searches of clients, visitors, and the facility grounds for contraband and conducts client counts. Provides general assistance and information to visitors of the forensic unit as needed. May be required to document logs, compile statistical data, and prepare incident reports.Job Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Forensic Security Officer ICandidates must possess education, training, and/or experience demonstrating proficiency in the following areas: A minimum of six months of experience in maintaining security and safety within facilities. Familiarity with security systems and surveillance technologies. A valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked, or canceled, or disqualified from driving).
