Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Engineering Specialist - Controls for the Afternoon Shift, focusing on Transmission Assembly and Machining processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enhance and optimize control systems and machinery utilizing Factory Information Systems (FIS) data.
  • Drive problem-solving initiatives to address equipment performance challenges.
  • Oversee troubleshooting efforts; coordinate resources to identify root causes and implement solutions, breaking down issues into manageable components.
  • Support the training of manufacturing staff and plant electricians.
  • Facilitate the integration of control systems with IT platforms such as Factory Information Systems (FIS), Error Proofing, QWX, and QTS.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to machinery, robotics, automation, and control systems.
  • Utilize FIS plant monitoring software to analyze equipment cycle times.
  • Review and manage project installations effectively.
  • Reprogram machinery for engineering modifications and enhancements; maintain backups of automation programs.

Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Controls Engineering within a manufacturing setting.
  • At least 3 years of experience with PLC logic and programming, specifically with Siemens and Modicon systems.
  • A strong interest in controls engineering, demonstrating a quick learning ability and application of controls knowledge.
  • Hands-on programming experience with assembly and machining control architectures (both hardware and software).
  • Familiarity with programming principles for Siemens, Schneider, and Bosch PLCs, as well as CNC/Motion control systems.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting PLC, CNC, robotic, and other automation-related issues.
  • Understanding of cell machining systems and the integration of CNC controls, gantries, and auxiliary equipment is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of ABB/FANUC robotics.
  • Experience with assembly and machining RFID systems, including complexity management and QOS strategies.
  • Familiarity with Vision Systems.
  • Awareness of international electrical and safety standards (UL, ISO, IEC, etc.) and knowledge of internal/external safety processes (risk assessments, PSS, integrated safety, etc.).
  • Ability to interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic control schematics.
  • Understanding of communication network architectures and field bus protocols.

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience collaborating with senior management, process engineering, safety, IT, and production teams.
  • Self-motivated and organized with strong interpersonal and influential skills.
  • A robust manufacturing background with a focus on production-related controls experience, comfortable working off-shift or in a 4-crew environment.

Educational Background:
A High School Diploma is required.
