Job Title: Mechanical HVAC Engineer

Location:

Duration: 6 months (with possible extension)

Pay rate: $55/hr. to $62/hr.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Mechanical HVAC Engineer to become a vital part of our Mechanical Buildings Design Group at Russell Tobin. In this position, you will engage in a variety of building designs, conducting engineering analyses and studies on both new constructions and existing facilities. Your expertise will be essential in delivering HVAC and plumbing solutions for international projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

HVAC and Plumbing Design:

  • Design, evaluate, and enhance HVAC and plumbing systems for a range of facility types, including energy generation facilities, substations, oil & gas infrastructures, water treatment plants, and energy storage facilities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to guarantee that systems align with project requirements and client expectations.

Project Execution:

  • Participate in traditional Design-Bid-Build and alternative conceptual-bid-build project delivery methods.
  • Engage in design and construction processes, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and within budget.

Focus Areas:

  • Energy generation areas, office spaces, storage facilities, maintenance shops, laboratories, chemical storage areas, electrical distribution hubs, low & medium voltage switchgear, pump stations, engine generator rooms, air compressors, wastewater treatment facilities, and storage for flammable materials.

Engineering Analysis:

  • Conduct energy audits and efficiency assessments, system performance evaluations, and energy compliance calculations.
  • Perform facility assessments for regulatory compliance and implement sustainable design strategies.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Design Technology, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • An Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design Technology is advantageous.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 11 years of relevant experience in HVAC and plumbing design for industrial facilities.
  • Experience with large-scale water-cooled chillers is preferred.

Technical Proficiencies:

  • Familiarity with International Codes Council (ICC) Suite of Codes, ASHRAE Handbooks/Standards, ASPE Design Handbooks, SMACNA Standards, and NFPA standards.
  • Proficient in computer-generated HVAC heat loads, energy modeling, and HVAC equipment sizing.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam Revu, and Revit 3D Modeling.

Certifications:

  • LEED AP certified professional with experience in securing LEED certification for industrial facilities.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
