- Evaluates HVAC system functionality through observation, testing, and configuration as dictated by the trade/position and the type/size of equipment, including split systems up to 120 tons, mini split systems, VRV heat pump/recovery, and various commercial units.
- Manages workflow on large-scale projects. Disassembles and reassembles both large and small commercial or residential systems to conduct troubleshooting and routine maintenance as outlined in service agreements. Proficiently utilizes hand tools, power tools, gauges, and measuring devices.
- Executes service contracts, quoted projects, and on-demand service requests as instructed. Cultivates long-term relationships with clients and clearly communicates the work performed to ensure customer satisfaction. Keeps all project stakeholders informed about the status of ongoing projects.
- Acts as a primary resource for service technicians by providing technical support. Oversees the activities of subcontractors and offers training and guidance to fellow technicians.
- Coordinates service calls involving multiple technicians.
- Participates in the on-call rotation as required by company policies and procedures.
- Procures materials and issues purchase orders to suppliers.
- Operates a motor vehicle and trailer safely, adhering to company vehicle policies and all safety regulations.
- Maintains tools, equipment, and inventory on the service vehicle.
- 5-7 years of experience in inspecting, testing, repairing, servicing, and maintaining HVAC systems.
- High School Diploma or GED. Must hold necessary registrations, professional licenses, and/or certifications as required for the position.
- HVAC Unitary Expertise: Proficient with split systems (all brands) up to 120 tons, mini-split systems (up to 3-ton heat pump), VRV heat pumps, rooftop units (all brands) up to 150+ tons, and water source heat pumps (all brands) up to 120 tons.
- HVAC Airside Knowledge: Familiar with Fan Powered Boxes, VAV Boxes, and VFD Theory. Understanding of Air Handler operations and control valve mechanisms. Knowledge of various exhaust fans.
- Pumps and Piping Systems Knowledge: Ability to identify components and configurations of pumps and chillers, including flow control and piping systems.
- Familiarity with brand-specific controls.
- Advanced understanding of service processes, techniques, and industry codes.
- Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills and effective written and verbal communication abilities.
- Consistently demonstrates strong business ethics.
- A two-year technical degree in a related field is preferred.
