Job Overview:

As the facility's EHS subject-matter expert, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of comprehensive environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs and policies. Your role will ensure adherence to federal, state, and local EHS regulations while maintaining an extensive understanding of how these regulatory requirements influence various business operations. You will engage with all levels of the organization to articulate, execute, and advocate for effective policies and practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and monitor production, wastewater treatment, and engineering operations to guarantee compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards at local, state, federal, and corporate levels. Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of programs through internal audits and industrial hygiene assessments.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for EHS-related inspections conducted by regulatory bodies.
  • Oversee the maintenance of required environmental permits, including planning, reporting, and inspection activities.
  • Deliver EHS training sessions to site personnel.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for EHS programs across processes, systems, and products.
  • Provide EHS insights for new products, processes, and facility modifications, ensuring alignment with operational changes.
  • Manage site wastewater treatment operations effectively.
  • Handle workload and projects independently with minimal supervision.
  • Facilitate communication within and outside the organization, including interactions with customers and vendors, to influence acceptance of team perspectives and changes.
  • Advise site leadership on compliance with environmental protection requirements and sustainability initiatives.
  • Serve as the site contact for corrective action processes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Position Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, industrial engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field, along with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or a graduate degree with 7 years of related experience.
  • Eligibility to obtain a secret-level clearance.
Preferred Skills:
  • Ability to convey technical and regulatory information to diverse audiences with varying levels of understanding.
  • Experience in providing guidance, coaching, and training to employees across the organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
