Job Overview:

As the facility's EHS subject-matter expert, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of comprehensive environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs and policies, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations. You will maintain an in-depth understanding of EHS-related regulatory requirements and their implications for various business operations. Your role will involve effective communication across all organizational levels to create, articulate, implement, and influence policies and practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and monitor production, wastewater treatment, and engineering operations to guarantee compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards at local, state, federal, and corporate levels. Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of programs through internal audits and industrial hygiene assessments.
  • Act as the primary contact for EHS-related inspections conducted by regulatory bodies.
  • Oversee the maintenance of necessary environmental permits, plan development, reporting, and inspection activities.
  • Deliver EHS training sessions to site personnel.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for EHS programs across processes, systems, or products.
  • Provide EHS insights for new products, processes, changes, and capital projects. Develop and implement EHS practices to support operational modifications.
  • Manage site wastewater treatment processes.
  • Effectively manage workload and projects with minimal supervision.
  • Engage in communication within and outside the organization, including interactions with customers and vendors. Influence acceptance of team perspectives and changes to practices and approaches. Regularly communicate with leadership on significant matters.
  • Advise site management on compliance with environmental protection regulations and sustainability initiatives.
  • Serve as the site contact for corrective action processes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager.
Position Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, industrial engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field, accompanied by a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, or a Graduate degree with 7 years of related experience.
  • Eligibility to obtain a security clearance at the secret level.
Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to convey technical and regulatory information to diverse audiences.
  • Experience in providing guidance, coaching, and training to employees across the organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
