About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Procedural Technical Artist to join our team at Sony PlayStation. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for leading the development and support of procedural tools for digital content creation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of procedural technical artists in the development and support of procedural tools for digital content creation
  • Accelerate the building of virtual worlds using proceduralism as your tool
  • Research, define, extend, and maintain procedural production pipelines, processes, and workflows
  • Interface with stakeholders - liaise between team members; drive collaborative projects
  • Troubleshoot issues; resolve them: invent or build robust, quality technical implementations
  • Partner with leads and directors to meet visual and technical standards
  • Work closely with artists and designers to develop/define procedural systems and improve their workflows
Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in computer-generated art
  • Industry experience working or shipping AAA titles
  • Expertise of 3D math fundamentals
  • Experience in designing or creating world-building toolsets
  • Expert knowledge of Houdini and best practices in procedural asset creation
  • Familiar with artist workflows and processes
  • Strong understanding of algorithm design and their inherent complexity
  • Proficient scripting/programming experience in Python, PyQT/PySide, Vex
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable and extensible code with attention to reusability
  • Enthusiasm and initiative
  • Excellent spoken and written communication
  • Able and motivated to work with other team members
Preferred Experience
  • Programming experience with C++
  • Expert ability in 3D modelling DCCs such as Maya or equivalent
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$170,100 — $255,100 USD

In addition, this role is eligible for Sony PlayStation's top-tier benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, matching 401(k), paid time off, wellness program and coveted employee discounts for Sony products. This role also may be eligible for a bonus package.
