Our Financial Services division caters to a diverse clientele within the asset management, capital markets, financial institutions, specialty finance, and insurance sectors. Within this specific team, you will engage with clients in the asset management realm, concentrating on private equity funds, hedge funds, and/or FoF clients, leveraging cutting-edge technology and national resources. Our focus is on tax compliance and consulting for some of the most intricate and renowned funds in the industry.

As a Tax Manager, your role will encompass a variety of responsibilities, revolving around three fundamental pillars: Technical & Quality Expertise, People & Talent Management, and Client Service/Business Development.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct thorough reviews and analyses of complex partnership tax returns for Private Equity, Hedge Funds, and/or FoF. Act as a Career Advisor by training, developing, mentoring, and coaching one or more team members, providing timely and constructive performance feedback. Address multiple complex issues and communicate effectively in a non-technical manner to facilitate understanding between clients and the service team, while managing risks for both parties. Serve as the Tax client service coordinator for designated clients. Advise clients on a comprehensive range of RSM's tax services, including planning, research, compliance, and general mergers and acquisitions activities. Review research findings to ensure conclusions align with firm policies and professional standards. Assist in business development, extending services, and recognizing tax issues for existing clients. Manage client requirements in collaboration with cross-functional engagement teams across the tax practice (e.g., state & local tax, international tax, tax technology, tax mergers & acquisitions, etc.). Stay informed on current tax practices and legislative changes.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field. 5+ years of experience in business taxation with a Big 4 or a large national, regional, or local accounting firm; or equivalent experience in industry or with a law firm. Active CPA, JD/LLM, or EA. Prior tax compliance and consulting experience with Asset Management clients. Proficient understanding of tax code and the technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance. Able to work closely with clients to address inquiries or gather necessary information for tax service requirements. Demonstrated success in managing client engagements from inception to completion.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's in Accounting, Master's in Taxation, or MBA.
