Within RSM's Financial Services division, we cater to a diverse clientele in sectors such as asset management, capital markets, financial institutions, specialty finance, and insurance. In this specific team, you will engage with clients in the asset management sector, focusing on private equity funds, hedge funds, and/or fund of funds clients, leveraging top-tier technology and national resources. Our team specializes in tax compliance and consulting for some of the most intricate and recognized funds in the industry.
As a Tax Manager, your responsibilities will revolve around three fundamental areas: Technical & Quality Expertise, People & Talent Management, and Client Service/Business Development.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough reviews and analyses of complex partnership tax returns for Private Equity, Hedge Funds, and/or Fund of Funds. Act as a Career Advisor by training, developing, mentoring, and coaching team members, providing timely and constructive performance feedback. Navigate multiple complex issues and communicate effectively in a non-technical manner to facilitate dialogue between clients and the service team, while managing risks for both parties. Serve as the Tax client service coordinator for designated clients. Provide clients with comprehensive advice on RSM's full range of tax services, including planning, research, compliance, and general mergers and acquisitions activities. Review research findings to ensure conclusions align with firm policies and professional standards. Assist in new business development, extending services, and identifying tax issues for existing clients. Manage client requirements in collaboration with cross-functional engagement teams across the tax practice (e.g., state & local tax, international tax, tax technology, tax mergers & acquisitions, etc.). Stay informed about current tax practices and legislative changes.Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in business taxation with a Big 4 firm or a large national, regional, or local accounting firm; or equivalent experience in industry or with a law firm. Active CPA, JD/LLM, or EA certification. Prior experience in tax compliance and consulting for Asset Management clients. Proficient understanding of tax code and technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance. Ability to collaborate closely with clients to address inquiries or gather necessary information for tax service requirements. Proven ability to manage client engagements from inception to completion.Preferred Qualifications:

Compensation for this role will reflect the candidate's experience, performance, and skills. The salary range for this position considers various factors, including education, skills, work experience, certifications, and location.
