Position Overview:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a Wellness Program Coordinator to oversee student wellness instructors and assist in the creation, execution, and assessment of diverse wellness initiatives. This role is essential in promoting health and well-being within the community.

Key Responsibilities:


• Design and sustain various wellness initiatives with defined learning outcomes and assessment strategies tailored to student needs. Focus areas include bystander intervention, sexual health, substance misuse prevention, digital wellness, and sleep hygiene.

• Manage a campus-wide bystander intervention program, including the development of promotional materials and outreach to community partners and student organizations.

• Oversee the operation of campus safer sex stations, including marketing, inventory management, and supply ordering.

• Recruit, train, and supervise staff, including wellness instructors.

• Establish clear expectations, provide ongoing training and feedback, conduct regular performance evaluations, and hold team meetings as necessary.

• Collaborate on budget proposals and contribute to the strategic direction of wellness programming.

• Monitor scheduling and reporting of wellness initiatives, participation metrics, and payroll management within budget constraints using appropriate software and tools.

• Support the implementation of a comprehensive evaluation framework to measure the effectiveness of wellness initiatives.

• Actively participate in team collaborations to foster strategic partnerships within the campus and community.

• Engage in departmental and university committees as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience in relevant fields.

• Background in program development, execution, and evaluation.

• Strong collaboration skills to achieve shared objectives.

• Experience working with diverse populations, emphasizing equity and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in wellness program development and evaluation.

• Professional background in higher education settings.

• Awareness of current trends in college student health and well-being.

• Experience supervising student employees or advising peer health educators.
