Key Responsibilities of the Recreational Activities Coordinator:
- Assist in the design, organization, and execution of a diverse range of activities tailored to meet the social, emotional, and physical needs of residents, as outlined in their individual care plans.
- Promote and initiate activities both within the facility and in the community, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents at all times.
- Coordinate support for residents during activities and events as needed.
- Provide in-room activities for residents who are unable to participate in group events.
- Develop and maintain a dynamic calendar of activities that caters to a variety of interests and abilities.
- Adhere to established standards for activity scheduling and documentation as per regulatory requirements.
- Engage with community organizations to enhance the variety of activities offered.
- Assist in organizing fundraising events for the Activities Department.
- Maintain detailed records of participation and progress toward care plan goals.
- Contribute to resident care planning by identifying the recreational needs of residents based on medical assessments.
- Create and distribute a monthly events calendar, ensuring accessibility for all residents.
- Keep a pictorial record of activities and events held throughout the year.
- Develop and sustain an active volunteer program, encouraging participation from residents, families, and community members.
- Train volunteers and students in recreational therapy techniques.
- Document residents' reactions and progress in collaboration with medical staff.
- Maintain all required records related to activities and resident participation.
- Support the organization of Resident Council meetings, ensuring residents have a platform to voice their concerns and suggestions.
Qualifications for the Recreational Activities Coordinator:
- High school diploma or GED required, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Six months to one year of experience in activity-related roles preferred.
- Ability to lead the Activities Department in the absence of the Activity Director.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a high level of enthusiasm.
- Experience in managing volunteers and developing volunteer programs.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and communicate across all levels of the organization.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances.
- Demonstrated integrity and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and external partners.
