Position Overview:
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a dedicated Wellness Program Coordinator to oversee undergraduate wellness instructors and contribute to the creation, execution, and assessment of diverse wellness initiatives. This role is integral to the Health Promotion team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and sustain various wellness initiatives with defined learning outcomes and assessment strategies based on identified student needs. Focus areas include bystander intervention, sexual and relationship health, substance misuse prevention, digital wellness, and sleep management.
• Lead campus-wide bystander intervention efforts, including the development and distribution of promotional materials and outreach to campus partners and student organizations.
• Manage the coordination and oversight of campus safer sex stations, including marketing, inventory management, usage tracking, and supply procurement.
• Recruit, onboard, and train relevant personnel, including wellness instructors.
• Establish clear expectations, provide ongoing training and constructive feedback, conduct individual and group meetings as necessary, and perform regular performance evaluations.
• Collaborate on budget proposals and the strategic direction for wellness programming and instructor management.
• Oversee the scheduling and tracking of wellness programs, participation metrics, and instructor payroll within budgetary constraints using appropriate software and tools.
• Assist in the implementation and management of a comprehensive evaluation framework to assess the effectiveness of personal well-being initiatives.
• Engage as a collaborative member of the Health Promotion team to foster strategic partnerships within the campus and community.
• Maintain an active role in departmental, divisional, and university committees as required.
Required Qualifications:
• Proven relevant experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation.
• Strong ability to collaborate effectively with partners to achieve shared outcomes.
• Experience working with diverse populations, emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Background in wellness program development and assessment.
• Professional experience within a higher education environment.
• Knowledge of current trends and emerging needs in college student health and well-being.
• Experience supervising student employees and advising peer health educators.
