Certified Nursing Assistant

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a vital role in providing high-quality care to our residents at Dallas Retirement Village. As a CNA, you will assist the licensed nursing staff in performing routine nursing duties and activities of daily living.
Key Responsibilities- Assist residents with daily living activities, including dressing, grooming, eating, bathing, positioning, turning, toileting, and exercising.
- Follow established care plans for each resident, promoting their independence and participation.
- Recognize and report any changes in resident condition, complaints, or behavioral problems to the Charge Nurse immediately.
- Notify the Charge Nurse of any changes that may require adjustments to the care plan.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
- Accept direction from supervisors and work collaboratively with other staff members.
- Transfer, transport, and escort residents as needed.
- Respond promptly to call lights and attend to resident needs.
- Participate in inservice training and education sessions as assigned.
- Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment and equipment.
- Assist with the orientation of new staff members or serve as a preceptor for nursing assistant students.
- Attend inservice training and education sessions as assigned.
- Perform specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
- Regularly stand, stoop, bend, stretch, squat, and walk for up to 90% of the workday.
- May be exposed to blood and body fluids, which may contain HIV and/or HBV.
- Must be able to transport residents using a wheelchair, geri chair, or shower chair, pushing up to 350 pounds unassisted.
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds to transfer, turn, and position a resident weighing up to 125 pounds unassisted or with assistance for a resident weighing over 125 pounds.
- Must be a CNA licensed in Oregon (may work up to four months after completing NA Class or moving in from out of state while pursuing certification through OSBN).
- Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively.
- Ability to document care provided.
