About the Role

The Chief Development Officer is a key leadership position at Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Iowa, responsible for developing and implementing revenue-generating strategies to support the organization's mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Fundraising: Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan to diversify funding sources and ensure long-term sustainability.
  • Donor Relations: Foster strong relationships with current and prospective donors, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Leadership and Management: Provide oversight and guidance to resource development staff and volunteers, ensuring effective management of fundraising resources and budget.
  • Communication and Marketing: Develop and implement communication and marketing strategies to promote the organization's mission and programs, including public relations, marketing, and online functions.
  • Collaboration and Partnerships: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including the CEO, Board of Directors, staff, and donors, to advance the organization's goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of five years' experience in fundraising and non-profit management.
  • Skills and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge and Qualifications: Demonstrated track record of fundraising success, with experience in direct solicitations, annual fund campaigns, and special events. Fundraising accreditation preferred.
