Role Summary

The Quality Assurance Specialist is tasked with ensuring adherence to quality benchmarks and regulatory standards through effective document management, training, auditing, validations, trend analysis, and shelf-life evaluations.

Key Responsibilities

· Assist in the implementation of SQF (Safe Quality Food) standards. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Developing, executing, and maintaining document control protocols.
  • Assessing and updating existing programs to guarantee accurate and current documentation.
  • Supporting fellow SQF team members in their respective areas of the SQF initiative.

· Conduct internal audits in line with SQF standards.

· Create and implement audit plans and reports, ensuring follow-up on corrective actions based on findings and meticulously documenting all processes.

· Liaise with vendors (product and service providers) and clients regarding SQF standards. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conducting on-site audits and/or acquiring acceptable third-party audits.
  • Drafting and/or securing product specifications.
  • Establishing customer and vendor matrices for ongoing approval.

· Assist the Research and Development team with new and/or enhanced product samples/processes.

· Collaborate closely with USDA and/or FDA to ensure compliance with all federal regulations.

· Design and implement training programs for quality systems, procedures, and regulations.

· Oversee and ensure calibration of laboratory and production equipment; manage calibration activities, including scheduling, documentation, and reporting, ensuring compliance with established procedures.

· Develop, review, implement, and engage in validation protocols; trend analysis; and shelf-life studies.

· Participate in compliance efforts related to export regulations or customer specifications, which includes the development of labeling and packaging.

Education & Training Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

· Strong understanding of quality and regulatory standards (USDA, FDA, HACCP, GMP, GFSI).

· PCQI and SQF certification preferred.

· Internal audit training preferred.

Work Experience Requirements

· Minimum of three years' experience in quality assurance or a related field.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

· Ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 50 pounds or less for up to 10 hours per day.

· Exposure to temperature variations.

· Working with uncooked, cooked, frozen products, or a combination of raw materials.
