Role Summary
The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily functions of the quality department, aimed at improving customer satisfaction, reducing risks, and contributing to the overall success of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise QA Technicians and Leads, providing leadership, training, and support
- Develop, implement, and uphold quality protocols and procedures
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and regulations, including GMP and SQF
- Create training initiatives for production staff
- Lead the ERP program addressing all QA requirements, including hold and release processes
- Oversee root cause analysis for food safety and quality issues
- Assist in resolving and documenting customer complaints
- Monitor and manage environmental programs, corrective actions, and food safety logs
- Conduct pre-operational inspections and coordinate with third-party sanitation services
- Collaborate across departments to implement new or modified processes
- Assess facility compliance with food safety regulations
- Prepare for and engage in audits, compiling and presenting necessary information
Education & Training
- Bachelor's degree in food science or a related discipline is preferred
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role within the quality or food processing sector
- Familiarity with SSOP, GMP, HACCP, and SQF standards
- Experience with USDA regulations is advantageous
- Knowledge of sanitation and environmental monitoring practices
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Ability to stand, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull, with the capacity to stand for up to 10 hours daily
- Regular lifting of 25 lbs and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs
- Exposure to temperature variations
- Work with uncooked, cooked, and frozen products
- Extended periods of sitting at a desk and using a computer
- Some travel may be required, including regular visits between facilities and potential out-of-town trips to vendors
