POSITION SUMMARY:

The Ophthalmology Clinical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the clinical team and the daily operations at Hamilton Eye Institute. This role ensures the smooth flow of patients, staff, and healthcare providers within a dynamic clinic setting. The supervisor will develop and implement strategies to enhance clinical workflows and proactively address any challenges that arise, ensuring a harmonious environment for patients and staff alike.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Acting as the hiring authority for clinical personnel.
  • Providing training and mentorship to clinical staff.
  • Managing attendance and timekeeping for clinical team members in accordance with established protocols.
  • Overseeing daily clinical operations and making necessary adjustments to improve efficiency.
  • Assisting the Clinic Manager with the integration of new healthcare providers.
  • Reviewing and updating clinical protocols for providers as required.
  • Managing inventory of clinical supplies, instruments, and medications.
  • Troubleshooting equipment issues and coordinating with IT or vendors as needed.
  • Serving as a liaison between healthcare providers and technicians, as well as between providers and administrative staff.
  • Filling in as a technician when necessary.
  • Addressing patient concerns or directing them to the appropriate resources.
  • Supervising multiple full-time clinical staff, facilitating their professional development, and conducting performance evaluations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school diploma or GED, with a minimum of five years of experience as an ophthalmic technician, including some supervisory or administrative experience.
  • COA Certification is required.
  • COT Certification is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism and tact.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing exemplary customer service.
