Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Midwest Vision Partners. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our physicians in delivering high-quality eye care services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Preparation
    • Conduct thorough patient histories, including medical and family histories, and chief complaints.
    • Perform visual acuity tests, including far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception.
    • Examine patients' eyes for abnormalities and perform diagnostic tests as needed.
  • Diagnostic Testing
    • Operate A-scans, B-scans, fundus photography, corneal topography, HRTII, and pachymetry equipment to diagnose eye conditions.
    • Apply anesthetizing, dilating, or medicating drops as needed.
    • Measure intraocular pressure and read eyeglass prescriptions using automated lensometry.
  • Charting and Documentation
    • Accurately chart patient results in electronic medical records.
    • Provide chair-side assistance to physicians as needed.
  • Administrative Tasks
    • Prepare necessary paperwork for surgeries ordered by physicians.
    • E-prescribe or phone in prescriptions for patients.
    • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • Supply Management
    • Ensure adequate supplies and equipment are available for patient care.
Requirements
  • Education
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience
    • One or more years of experience in a medical practice preferred.
  • Certifications
    • Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification a plus.
  • Skills
    • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience a plus.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology required.
