Ophthalmic Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Midwest Vision Partners. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our physicians in delivering high-quality eye care services.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Preparation
- Conduct thorough patient histories, including medical and family histories, and chief complaints.
- Perform visual acuity tests, including far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception.
- Examine patients' eyes for abnormalities and perform diagnostic tests as needed.
- Diagnostic Testing
- Operate A-scans, B-scans, fundus photography, corneal topography, HRTII, and pachymetry equipment to diagnose eye conditions.
- Apply anesthetizing, dilating, or medicating drops as needed.
- Measure intraocular pressure and read eyeglass prescriptions using automated lensometry.
- Charting and Documentation
- Accurately chart patient results in electronic medical records.
- Provide chair-side assistance to physicians as needed.
- Administrative Tasks
- Prepare necessary paperwork for surgeries ordered by physicians.
- E-prescribe or phone in prescriptions for patients.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Supply Management
- Ensure adequate supplies and equipment are available for patient care.
- Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience
- One or more years of experience in a medical practice preferred.
- Certifications
- Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification a plus.
- Skills
- Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience a plus.
- Knowledge of medical terminology required.
