University Clinical Health (UCH) stands as a premier independent and physician-led faculty practice plan affiliated with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Our mission is to deliver exceptional clinical services through a diverse network of over 175 providers across 19 specialties, dedicated to addressing the healthcare needs of the Midsouth community.
ROLE SUMMARY:
The Ophthalmology Clinical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and directing clinical personnel and managing the daily clinical functions of the Hamilton Eye Institute. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of patient flow, staff coordination, and provider interactions within a dynamic clinic setting. The supervisor will proactively identify and resolve operational challenges while fostering a collaborative team environment and mentoring clinical staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary duties include, but are not limited to:
- Acting as the hiring authority for clinical personnel.
- Providing training and mentorship to clinical staff.
- Managing attendance and timekeeping for clinical employees in accordance with established protocols.
- Overseeing daily clinical operations and implementing necessary improvements.
- Assisting the Clinic Manager with the integration of new providers.
- Reviewing and updating clinical protocols for providers as required.
- Managing inventory of clinic supplies, instruments, and medications.
- Troubleshooting equipment issues and liaising with IT or vendors as necessary.
- Serving as a communication bridge between providers and technicians, as well as between providers and administrative staff.
- Filling in as a technician when required.
- Addressing patient concerns or directing them to the appropriate resources.
- Supervising multiple full-time clinical staff, focusing on their development and conducting performance evaluations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A high school diploma or GED, along with a minimum of five years of experience as an ophthalmic technician, including some supervisory or administrative experience.
- COA Certification (mandatory).
- COT Certification (preferred).
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- The ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism and tact.
- A commitment to providing exemplary customer service.
