Job Overview

Position Summary

As a Senior Power Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and evaluation of power delivery systems for both system and rack-level applications.

You will serve as the power delivery authority within interdisciplinary teams, collaborating closely with client engineers to formulate testing strategies, execute evaluations, and relay findings. Your focus will be on enhancing testing methodologies while guiding fellow engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with suppliers and clients throughout the development process to assess requirements, troubleshoot issues, report testing outcomes, and offer constructive feedback to engineering teams.
  • Examine power delivery from rack power inputs to servers, ensuring compatibility with data center power systems.
  • Work collaboratively to create comprehensive testing plans that meet client data center power delivery specifications.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative testing tools and equipment to ensure racks operate without downtime in data centers.
  • Prepare technical documentation and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead teams in conducting power testing in laboratory settings utilizing oscilloscopes, electronic loads, AC sources, and various power testing apparatus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated capability to collaborate effectively with suppliers and clients.
  • Experience in power electronics for server systems, including AC/DC and DC/DC conversion, as well as AC and DC power distribution and backup systems.
  • Familiarity with single-phase and three-phase low-voltage utility power distribution, including UPS systems.
  • Proficient in testing power designs in laboratory environments using programmable AC sources, active DC loads, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, digital voltmeters, signal generators, and basic soldering tools.
  • Basic knowledge of regulatory standards concerning safety and compatibility of power systems and components.
  • Understanding of server power management protocols such as IPMI, PMBus, and SMBus.
  • Experience in automating testing processes.
  • Strong skills in analog circuit design.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while enhancing the knowledge and capabilities of the power team and performing hands-on testing.
