Data Center Power Sr Principal Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Power Systems Engineer to join our team at Dell. As a key member of our Electrical Engineering team, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and implementation of electrical power systems for our Modular Data Centers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal teams, customers, and partners to develop and implement electrical power systems that meet the needs of our customers.

  • Evaluate and select appropriate data center power technologies to fulfill design requirements, balancing cost, performance, quality, and schedule.

  • Work with external partners and internal Dell technology engineering, marketing, and validation teams to develop detailed electrical one-lines, schematics, power budgets, BOMs, and other engineering collateral.

  • Validate internal and third-party solutions by developing and executing detailed test plans for data center electrical, HVAC, and industrial control systems.

  • Drive key internal stakeholders, partners, and vendors through strong relationship building and collaboration to achieve business results.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of professional electromechanical related data center design and manufacturing experience with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Engineering or equivalent experience.

  • Robust knowledge of data center power distribution and capacity components, and electrical system design, including switchboards, VFDs, circuit breakers, busway, UPS protected power, battery technologies, generators, HRG, metering, surge protection, and IT rack-based power distribution.

  • Experience with EPlan electrical engineering software or other similar electrical drafting software.

  • Proficient written and verbal presentation and communication skills required for internal and customer-facing presentations and working sessions.

  • Self-motivated and able to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Ability to understand competing relationships between thermal, mechanical, electrical, power security, and networking requirements.

  • Knowledge and experience with designing to compliance with the National Electric Code and applicable regulatory (UL) requirements.

Compensation:

Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this position is $170k - $206k.
